In order to enable sustainable development, it is not enough to gather knowledge. Rather, it is to apply this knowledge in relation to values and norms. An objective of the CCSD is to enable NGU students to make judgments based on the values of sustainable development and to put them into practice. The Coordination Centre for Sustainable Development annually offers the Sustainability Award to outstanding theses (diploma, bachelor or master theses) that take up this challenge and make a practical contribution to sustainable development. The award is valued at 1,000 EUR and is funded by the Winfried Böhler Environmental Foundation.
Along with our commitment to academic teaching, we also conduct occasional events both within the university and for the general public.

The Coordination Center for Sustainable Development is a cross-faculty, academic institution of NGU for faculty, staff, students, and anyone else interested in sustainable development. Our goal is to raise awareness of and promote responsibility for sustainable development within the areas of economics, ecology and sociology, both inside and outside of the university. Our interdisciplinary team allows us to take part in the current discourse surrounding these three disciplines of sustainability as well as to identify the relevant themes that cut across each subject.
We conduct research and transfer projects, and we develop educational projects on issues of sustainable development. We are currently planning various new projects.
