Scholarships

It's a myth that scholarships are only for those who excel in sports or academics on an exceptional level.

You are GUT (good)

G - engaged in the common GOOD: if you invest your talents and time in volunteer work (you don't need to be a founder of a citizen project, there are great options with the International Office at NGU e.g. Integration Projects)

U - on your way towards a UNIVERSITY degree: if you plan on applying for a university program (some scholarships allow applications before signing up with a program) or if you are already a student at NGU

T - TALENTED: if you have proven your dedication for your subject e.g. with good grades at university or before (it doesn't need to be all A+, you don't need to be THE best)

If that's true for you you should apply for a scholarship.

In Germany there are numerous scholarship programs - all with different intentions and students in mind:

Some focus on students enrolled in specific subjects, some on students with certain religious backgrounds or certain political orientiation, some support students from certain areas of the world, some (but far less than in other parts of the world) support students successful in certain sports etc.

The amount of support varies also tremendously between money for books to full funding.

It's wise to apply for several scholarships at the same time.

• Different funding programs by the 13 big organizations in Germany under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) - open to EU students and other international students who are entitled to permanent residence in Germany within the meaning of Article 8 Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG): StipendiumPlus
