Information regarding the upcoming examination period

The examination period for the 2020/2021 winter semester begins on February 1, 2021.

To ensure that this semester will be a full semester of study despite largely digital formats, the state government is allowing universities to hold exams in presence. To prepare for exams, the libraries has also been re-opened again since yesterday.

We would also like to give our students the opportunity to take exams in presence this semester. Of course, the best possible protection of all university members is our top priority. To this end, we have taken or will take appropriate measures.

We are reducing the number of contacts on exam days, and have already converted written exams into other forms of examination for courses where this is possible and makes sense. The students have already been informed about this. Furthermore, we distribute the examinations over more or larger rooms, so that we can create greater distances between the students. The renting of city halls also contributes to this. In addition, we have made it possible to spread out the number of examinations, i.e. to postpone examinations to less busy days. Please check the current examination schedule regularly.

Upon request, the city of Nürtingen has informed us that if the minimum distance is permanently ensured, the ventilation intervals are observed and the participants continuously wear a mouth-nose cover, even in the event of a Covid19-positive test of individual participants being detected at a later date, as a rule no quarantine obligation will be imposed by the health authorities for all participants – e.g. for all examination participants. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that our hygiene and ventilation concept is strictly adhered to during the examinations. Otherwise, the examinations are at risk. In addition, we will take measures to ensure that the distances in front of the buildings are also observed. We ask for your understanding in this regard. By consistently adhering to and applying all measures, you will be actively helping to ensure that the examinations are carried out smoothly. Students who are exempted from wearing a mouth-nose-cover by a medical certificate are asked to contact the responsible persons in the faculties in advance, so that we can find an appropriate solution.

For students who need overnight accommodation during the examination period, we will be happy to issue a certificate so that they can use hotels and youth hostels. Please contact the responsible persons in the faculties in case of need. It should be avoided that you stay with fellow students in these cases.

We ask all lecturers to get involved in the supervision of exams as much as possible and the staff members who can take over the supervision of exams to contact the faculties. Since additional supervisors are needed due to the distribution to several rooms, through your solidarity the additional loads can be better distributed. If you are not able to supervise the exams yourself, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can transfer the supervision to colleagues, student assistants or external persons. Students who would like to supervise exams, also when arriving or leaving the exam, as student assistants are asked to contact the faculties so that we can set up appropriate contracts or use existing contracts for this purpose.

Please understand that offering exams is an opportunity for students to make progress in their studies. Especially for students who are going abroad or on an internship in the summer semester or who are starting their professional life, it is important that we offer the exams in the upcoming exam period. You, dear students, can decide for yourself whether you want to take part in the exams. We will again allow generous withdrawals from the exams this semester. The Corona-related extension of the standard period of study also reduces the impact of non-participation.

We will send you the Hygiene and Ventilation Policy again prior to exams.
