Bonn, April 27, 2020

In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the Hildegardis-Verein starts an emergency aid for female students. The applications for the interest-free loans that the association has been granting since its foundation in 1907 are now being examined and approved in an expedited procedure. The simplified procedure includes a grant of up to 3,000 Euros. "We would like to support female students in this situation at short notice and unbureaucratically and also integrate them into our network," Charlotte Kreuter-Kirchhof, Chairwoman of the Hildegardis Association, explained the measure. All students who have been granted a loan will have access to a cross-generational women's network and all the services of the Hildegardis Association.

During the Corona crisis, the financial situation for many students has worsened considerably. Quite a few have lost their part-time jobs to finance their livelihood. It is still unclear when the bridging aid for students announced by the Federal Ministry of Education can be applied for and how it will be implemented. "With our emergency aid, we are supporting women who are in a financial emergency as a result of the Corona crisis," says law professor Kreuter-Kirchhof, who teaches at the University of Düsseldorf.

The Hildegardis-Verein promotes women across disciplines and regardless of nationality. The prerequisite for a loan is that the female students belong to a Christian denomination. On the occasion of the special situation caused by the pandemic, the Hildegardis-Verein has expanded its existing expedited procedure. The application documents for the Corona Emergency Aid must include a curriculum vitae, copies of certificates and proof of enrolment as well as a completed application form that provides information about the financial requirements.

Further information on the procedure can be found at www.hildegardis-verein.de/darlehen.html.

The Hildegards-Verein e.V., based in Bonn, has been financially supporting women in their studies and other qualification projects since 1907 and encourages them through a large network of women. "Education gives wings" is the motto of the association founded by female Catholics. The granting of interest-free loans is one of many fields of activity of the Hildegardis-Verein e.V., which implements innovative mentoring and tandem programs in the areas of inclusion, leadership and church: www.hildegardis-verein.de, www.kirche-im-mentoring.de, www.fachkolleg-inklusion.de, www.ixnet-projekt.de.
