Creating City and Landscape

Nürtingen-Geislingen University offers at its campus in Nürtingen the practice-oriented and internationally recognised bachelor degree program Landscape Architecture. It leads to the degree Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).

The study program offers a balanced mix of theory and practice to enable graduate to

  • make an active and professional contribution to the development and planning of open spaces, landscapes and urban projects
  • formulate draft plans, concepts, catalogues of objectives and strategies, either alone or in teamwork
  • involve the public and users in planning processes and decisions
  • design and preserve urban and landscape open spaces
  • combine ecology and economy in a creative and meaningful fashion
  • work confidently with other specialist desciplines


  • private open spaces such as residential, allotment and tenant's gardens and green areas at residential complexes,
  • public open spaces such a parks, squares, promenades, green space corridors, residential streets and roadside plantings,
  • utilitarian open spaces such as kindergartens, playgrounds, school outdoor spaces, sports grounds and cemeteries.

From the 4th semester on, students choose between the electives "Planning and Designing" and "Designing and Building".

Qualified graduates can apply for one of our master degree programs Environmental Studies or International Master of  Landscape Architecture. The M.Eng. Landscape Architecture is taught in German and English and involves study at 2 higher education institutions.
