Project Nt-Great

Great projects for integrating great people

Nt-Great is a new project organised by the International Office of Nürtingen-Geislingen Univeristy (NGU) which supports international students in integrating well into their new environment in Germany. In order to get to know people both in and outside of the university, the international office offers a range of programmes which help international students to get in touch with German families, schools, social institutions, companies, students, or simply interested citizens of Nürtingen. That way, Nt-Great is an open project which gives everybody the chance to get involved.

Nt-Great is funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in the frame of the nationwide DAAD-programme PROFIN (“Project to promote integration of international students”).

Overview of the individual project parts:

• Study Programme “Social Sciences and Voluntary Work” (VolWo)

International students visit a lecture in social sciences and do voluntary work in various social institutions in town.

• School Programme “Ask a Foreign Student” (AFoS)

Teachers of local schools and international students organise a school lesson together.

• Host Family Programme “Join a Family” (JaFa)

German families meet international students for individual free-time activities.

• Tandem Programme “Partner with a Foreign Student" (PaFoS)

Citizens of Nürtingen who want to study a specific language and international native speakers who want to work on their German set up a “tandem”, a language exchange.

• Theme Night Programme “Present a Foreign Country” (PaFoC)

International students present their home country.

• Internship Programme “Employ a Foreign Student” (EFoS)

Local companies have international students work with them on an internship basis.

• Tutoring Programme “Support a Foreign Student” (SuFoS)

German students help international students in subjects which are particularly difficult for them.
