International Programs & Pathways
Basic information about International Programs and Pathways
International Programs and Pathways (IP&P) is accountable for international Academics, Strategies and Policies.
This includes, e. g.,
- bearing the responsibility for the strategic selection,
- development, and maintenance of relations to international partner universities,
- the respective negotiation, signing and administration of the international academic agreements and contracts with international partners in higher education,
- the development of learning agreements,
- generally ensuring the standard and quality of the international academic programs,
- the development of and control over the implementation of international strategies,
- above all the internationalization of HfWU Nuertingen-Geislingen University regarding academics and research.
Select university professors, who are generally responsible for international academics (IA), are organized within IP&P. They are members of a team in International Programs and Pathways under the leadership of the director of International Relations, Prof. Richard Wilcox, who is directly responsible to the university president, Prof. Werner Ziegler.
All of these selected professors have two functions: to serve namely as International Academic Program Supervisor and as Academic Key Coordinator.
Their function as International Academic Program Supervisors:
- Fulfill Prerequisites for International Exchanges
- Develop & Maintain Learning Agreements (LA) for their Students going to Targeted Partner Universities
- Ensure that their respective Curricula & Exam Requirements allow for International Student Exchanges with full Credit for Students upon their Return
- Ensure that Reciprocity between Partners is Feasible: Provide Courses Instructed in English
- Supervise Grade/Mark Translations & Transcripts
- Enhance Internationalization in their respective Faculties
Their function as Academic Key Coordinators:
- Establish & Maintain Close Relations with Selected/ Strategically Targeted Partner Universities' Leadership & Faculty
- Provide Access to Curricula Descriptions & Key Academics at their Partner University for Fellow HfWU Colleagues, i.e. International Academic Program Supervisors to Support their Student Exchanges
- Establish & Maintain Grade/Mark Translation Schemes Valid between their Partner University & HfWU
- Keep HfWU Leadership & IR/IP&P-Director Informed of Changes & Developments at their Partner University

- Cultivating International Exchanges between Partners' Faculty and Staff Members
- Encouraging and Enhancing International Research
- Ensuring Academic Quality in International Partnerships
- Contributing substantially towards the Internationalization of HfWU Nuertingen-Geislingen
Consisting of
- Head: Prof. Richard Wilcox
- 8 – 12 selected Professors
- International Academic (IA) Supervisors for their respective faculties/ academic degree programs & developers of Learning Agreements (LA)
- IA Key Coordinators as Gatekeeper/ Interface Manager for selected partner universities
