Just as all German citizens do, international students must register their place of residence at the Residents’ Registration Office (Einwohnermeldeamt) in the town hall within one week after arrival.
For registration you need to bring:
Keep your confirmation of registration (Meldebestaetigung) safe. If you leave Nuertingen/Geislingen for your home country or to move somewhere else at the end of the semester you have to notify the Einwohnermeldeamt of your move.

Students from the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland do not need a residence permit but they must prove that they have health insurance and that they can finance their studies.
Non-EU students and students who do not have the residence permit for the purpose of studying in their passport (student visa) have to go to the International Registration Authority (Auslaenderbehoerde) in the town hall to apply for a residence permit. You need to bring with you
You need to do the registrations during the orientation week. Your mentor is informed where to go and will help you fill out all the necessary forms.
